All you need to know about skiing courses in Gulmarg

Introduction

In 1969, the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering was established at Gulmarg by the Department of Tourism and the Government of India to train enthusiastic learners from all over the world. Earlier, it was started under the Gulmarg Winter Sports Project (GWSP) to build ski resorts of international standards; with time, this has become a major hub for corporate activities and adventure courses. Skiing courses in Gulmarg are training programs that teach you how to ski on the snow-covered slopes of Gulmarg, a popular winter destination in Kashmir.

Insights of Skiing course syllabus

The skiing course syllabus is divided into three levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced. These are designed within a designated period that needs to be completed within the time given. All three levels need to be completed within 14 days, which means for every level you are allotted 14 days. in the basic course on the first-day introduction to the equipment and introduction to them. In these fourteen days, several aspects of skiing will be covered. Your fitness level is crucial and during the process stamina and endurance will be enhanced with vigorous exercise and walking.

Master the Essential Skills

Walking is very important, as on snow one must ascend and descend while skiing. Further training in snow plowing will be carried on till you get a good grip on it. Traversing and uphill swing skills will be trained too; in the latter times, skills like side stepping, basic swing, open parallel rough form, and slalom are being trained thoroughly and practically. After completing the training, exams will be conducted to check your abilities. After you pass the examination with flying colors, the graduation ceremony will take place and all your ski equipment that was used in your time has to be returned. Thus, your training is completed along with a degree. In the intermediate level along with all these skills, there are other areas where students will be trained as well.

Slide slip garland

First comes a downhill swing with a basic swing; next is slide slip garland, then there are long parallel turns with an open ski and short parallel turns with an open ski, latter there is a short parallel turn with an open ski slalom. Then, after the examination with the graduation ceremony, you are all prepared to conquer. In the advanced course following the curriculum and syllabus of skiing, other skills are added, like long parallel with close skies and short parallel with closed skies.

There are short-duration courses at IISM, Gulmarg (J&K), which are 6 days and the total number of courses in the schedule is fifteen. The total sum of 4000 is charged per head in this course. The course runs on a first-come, first-served basis, and about 15-20 students are taken for this course. Course Schedule

Water skiing courses at Manasbal Lake, Kashmir. During this period, along with physical endurance, swimming skills will be taken care of seriously so before joining the course, be well-versed in swimming. The course is 10 days along with arrival and departure days. In this course, there are three sub-courses where all the aspects of water skiing are covered. The fees of the said course are 5000 per person in each course; within this amount, hostel fees, lodging, and boarding are included. There are limited seats in this course, which is 20, there is an age limit of 12-45 years.

Trekking courses at Zanskar and Kargil: the duration of this course is ten days, including the arrival and departure days; the fee of this course is 5,000, which includes boarding and lodging; the age limit of this course is from 12 years to 45 years; the capacity of this course of 20 pupils.
